BIO-5100 Research Methodology: Introduction
Research Methodology: Introduction to Research Methods This course presents the scientific method and examines the way in which one reviews and uses the literature in developing and formulating a research question. It discusses the hierarchy of the strength of evidence found in different forms of research literature including the results from clinical trials so as to help the student be a critical appraiser of the current information. The course addresses some aspects important to the formulation of a research question. Course discussion will include identification of cognitive errors and biases as major pitfalls to avoid. Approaches to problem-solving before, during and after a study will also be discussed.
